To DNG or Not to DNG

John Nack reveals some warm and comforting info about Adobe’s DNG format for photographers who shoot RAW.

I’ve not begun using DNG – it’s hard to convert your massive photo library to a new format and feel good about it. What if Adobe drops DNG like SVG? Well, SVG is open-source and widely supported by the W3C, so it’s not dead. I never used SVG at all and often went out of my way to avoid installing the extra plug-ins and such that came with various versions of Illustrator, etc.

The good news is that Mr. Nack reveals that Adobe does want to open up DNG after the proper standards momentum is built – and that’s great since the world of camera RAW is anything but standardized.
